Almeda married Emory Starr in 1892 at the age of 21.

Two years later in Stronghurst Illinois she gave birth to her son Earnest William Starr.

Tragically in January of 1896 Typhoid fever struck her family’s home and Amelia went home to help nurse her sister, brother and father who would all die of the disease and ultimately kill her as well. Emory remarried to Ida Brent and she raised Ernie as her own.
